Are you new to RUNNING? If so, I am going to provide you with a checklist of the things you would want to invest in before you partake in this journey! Keep in mind that if you’ve been out of shape for quite some time, please always consult your physician or health care professional before performing running or any other exercise, especially if you have any chronic or recurring condition, and/or if you are pregnant, nursing, or elderly.

The course is designed to help women who are 30 and older wanting to get back in shape through running. If you've been thinking about getting started, don't think anymore. Just GET UP! GET OUT! And let's HIT THE AZPHALT together! I will be your virtual coach cheering you every step of the way as you embark upon this 8 week journey of going from the couch to enjoying the beautiful scenery outside. Will this be easy? NO! Is it doable? Absolutely! Will you be able to run? If you put in the work and discipline that it takes over the next 8 weeks of course!


In this self paced course, you will be provided with over 15 modules of in depth information based upon a variety of topics ranging from how to pick out the right shoes to what kind of bra you need when starting out. We also give resources where you can find other run related topics to expand your knowledge base. We will meet weekly on our virtual platform in Zoom if you need any guidance or assistance. These videos will be saved and housed here. We know that some of our Sole Sistahs may not have access to Facebook, but if you do, we will also meet there as well.

Each week we will have some weekly challenges that you can work on to better your skill sets. We will also have prizes bases upon your participation and willingness to succeed! This is a FUN and engaging course prepared and created by Coach TK AKA Professor T.K. the Chemist, who is also a College Chemistry and Anatomy and Physiology Professor. She knows how to keep you ENCOURAGED... INSPIRED... and MOTIVATED all while learning how to RUN but more importantly, how to conquer your fears of overcoming self confidence issues while embracing the "azphalt".

Coach Tabelech "TK" Shipp

Tabelech pronounced (Tab-ba-lee) “Coach TK” began her running journey in 2012 during the summer when her daughter was training with her Cross Country team for summer practice. She decided to venture out with her daughter to see what this “running thing” was all about. Turns out, the wooded trail was more of a walk than a run. Coach TK began to fuss about the distance of this “adventure” and wanted to throw in the towel when she discovered they had only covered one mile in 20 minutes! She continued on as her daughter would coach her along the way, but she vowed then that this “running thing” wasn’t for her. Coach TK would hang up her shoes and not hit the pavement again until the spring of the following year when she discovered a local running group through her sister. Coach T.K. was convinced that she should start over with giving “RUN” a second chance!

Coach TK is a Certified Running Coach through RRCA (Road Runners Coaching Association). She's a Half Maniac Member #2910, which means she ran 3 Half Marathons within a 56 day time period. One of her proudest moments as a Coach is to pace Half Marathons, especially with first timers! She is the founder and CEO of Kickin’ Azphalt with Sole Running Company. She also volunteers at the elementary school as a Running Coach for children in grades 3-5 with the hopes that they will also develop an appreciation for this sport.

Coach TK is a Two-Time Award Winning College Chemistry and Biology Professor and enjoys providing STEM hands-on science Outreach Adventures to kids of all ages. Coach TK has a Bachelor of Science in Professional Chemistry from North Carolina A&T State University and a Masters of Life Science with dual concentrations in biology and chemistry from the University of Maryland at College Park. She is married and has 3 AMAZING ATHLETIC CHILDREN who love taking family trips to the next race!
